Exclamation CGPAD SOTW - #11 - The Boneyard



Welcome to the CGPAD Speed of the Week fellow pixel-scavengers!

Entry guidelines:
> Entries must be speed paints based around the theme.
> Only new images please - no old images or WIPs should be entered.
> The painting should take you no more than 3-4 hour max to complete.
> Please keep image to a forum friendly size.
> Any medium goes!

Timescales:
Challenge starts Sunday, and ends on Friday. Each week. Voting takes place on Saturdays.

CB3: This would be awesome. :) But sadly I doubt I can come up with an entry fast enough cause I've forgotten my wacom while traveling to my family and friends over the holiday period. Stupid me.

my entry for this nice theme. done in ps cs3 in 4 hours.

i like this theme and i think i will continue this painting - alltough the compositon has some faults which will be a pain in the ass to correct.

WOOHAA!!!! First poll of 2010 is up and running!

@Thuj: Loving the interesting use of curvature/perspective underpinning this wip. have you managed any further progress with it? It looks as though
you really have some solid shapes taking form within the lineworked areas there to build up the rest of piece into something pretty formidable.

@Zanta: I like this very much as well, Zanta; and I also dig that weird vegetation happening in the bkg; perhaps drop a 'black and white' adjustment layer on top of your other layers, just to keep a double-check on value separation as you continue with it, and along with that maybe look to repeat more of that alien-looking vegetation to help cement that "otherworldy" aspect to this particular setting. (that is, if it's meant to be so in the first place :D)

truly no set rules there with that tho, just so long as it doesn't overwhelm, or come across as too "busy" in the end; just continue to trust your instincts and adjust certain elements as it pertains to what is evolving within the image, the same as you have been doing up to this point really.

Hey CB3! Thank you for this precise feedback. :) You are right, I should develop this background element more. It started as one of those "happy incidents". I wanted to develop it more in the directions of huge bones from a huge beast sticking out of the water. But somehow I liked the shape of the allready existing thingy, so I kept it.

@Thujon: It's a pity that you can't finish this peace. I would really like to see where this is going. I dig the composition in your WIP. My mind instantly started to create some amazing bone yard scenario in this. Maybe you keep going with it? :)
