well, the one developed out of the other, so i guess it'S normal that they look similar... but i didn't had a particular theme in mind.

Re: monkey's playground
added a real background.
still working on thouse clouds. if they turn out as i imagine them... it might become quite epic oO
i really enjoy working on this, because it's one of a few images of mine which i'm proud of... it really doesn't happen often, that i look at my own stuff and say "wow, that looks cool!"

Re: monkey's playground
I think everyone understands what you mean, D. Things start to "click" into place, your confidence starts building, and it becomes that much easier to "feed the creative beast"
The background is nicely rendered thus far. I can see as well how the exhaust clouds might be tough to nail down initially, but really, a nice mix of standard soft/hard should get them where you want 'em!
Maybe look at reducing the length of nose (bridge) on the cosmonaut. This may require t-forming some other things back into place, but it's only a small tweak to consider in it's essence. If you'd like an example, I'll "whisper" one your way thru PM lol
**btw, I haven't forgotten about the sith image again; I have a really fun idea and it serves as the starting point.
PTW!!!!

Re: monkey's playground
you're totally right with that nose! although i've declared it finished by now, i'd put my hands on it again, if you'd gave me some hints :D
that star wars piece is coming out nice, i really want to show it to you guys, but i'm constantly thinking "mhaaa, you can still push more!" :D don't want to kill the surprise^^
here is the currently final of that cosmonaut piece, and a litte doodle based on dasadam's alchemy siluettes. i didn't even care to seperate them lol
also added the goa supremacy for archiving reasons.

Re: monkey's playground
ok, sent something along, but want to say that you have some really exceptional things going on with this one, monk. also, that sketch has a nice, "metal-gear-ish" feel, that's very cool! the silhouettes from DA as well; one of them in particular is 'speaking' to me lol

but i will give that unsymetrical design thing a shot, your'e totall right with that! :>
here's something for another class, we should do a free work.
the story behind it is simple, we watch our world fall apart, laughing.

Re: monkey's playground
my head is empty -.-
so i watched some andrew jones vids, him explaining some painter tricks and stuff; i got interested and spend (again) 4 hours to get into painter- i got angry about how complicated a program can be and went into photoshop one hour and threw together some random shapes and brushes.
bla.

Re: monkey's playground
thanks a bunch, cloud!
location painting is something that i still really have to try^^
well i discovered vilppus figure drawing vids yesterday and i'm in total awe.. i've only seen 2 of them for now, but i already know that he's the one i've been waiting for since i've started drawing :D
it's like every sentence he's saying about feeling the action of the model or about understanding how things work, is articulated from my mind, because that's always been the way i thought about it as well...
yet the technique he's using is so nice to learn... hrhr that thing really motivates me to go on with it^^
here are todays outcomes lol did them while watching him.
notice that i didn't focus too much on anatomical correctness, but on the gesture of the model.
i've also added a doodle for the underworld i might get on further; there's something about that head i like...

Re: monkey's playground
Nicely relayed, Dmonk. yep, sometimes you really have to explore new areas of art, and even philosophies in order to keep motivated and on point with your overall goals.
When it comes to this stuff at least, we all are kinda greedy with it, and would like to know/understand everything at one time, but it usually takes months (for slow little me at least ) for little things to finally *click* in my head after I've read over and reviewed them for a bit...then things start to flow and make sense much better than before; enough to where I can start to confidently apply that understanding to a piece of work.
