Who out there would like to have a new CGPAD prize driven contest? Most of us have finally gotten over the left over turkey from X-mas and should have settled into a semi-normal state with a keeness to get our creative juices flowing again.

I have a few ideas for both prizes and theme but would like to hear what you have to say about it.

Due to CGPAD being a forum based around art the prizes will always be something art related, whether a selection of art book titles, subscription to a leading art magazine (ImagineFX, 2D Artisit, ComputerArt, 3D World etc), dvd's or even some form of art material (wacom pads, monitors, traditional art materials etc).

So if you fancy pitting your skills against each other in a friendly way then please voice your opinions and what type of prize would be a good incentive to get everyone partaking.

I personally think that something less expensive but still awesome would be good...less costs would mean that CGPad could hold more competitions and such. I voted art books because I would personally love having a collection of awesome artwork from a pro (something like Structura: The Art of Sparth).

Maybe having small competitions with prizes like pencils, markers, or paper (sketchbooks would be nice) would be good and then have an annual or biannual contest with bigger prizes like a book.

P.S. I also believe that competitions for equipment like a Wacom Bamboo wouldn't be the best choice unless enough people could use it, but this may just be my view.

Voted "with another prize", but reason was: I'd take any of those prizes (aswell as that bamboo prize :p) any day from a cmpetition of CGPADs :)

Great to see the contests returning, prizes or not.

I’ve just got myself a shinny new laptop of my own now so I’m not fighting my other half for the use of hers. I should be able to start painting more regularly now once I get to grips with the gimp.

I voted for the Book option as you can never have too many books but I like Funddevi’s idea of having less costly prizes. That way there could more contests covering different topics (enviro/character/vehicle etc..) or maybe 1st, 2nd & 3rd place prizes depending on numbers of entries. Or maybe small random prizes for best concept, most improved or members choice award.

brill ideas and greatly received, I really enjoy seeing our members partaking and showing new great artwork from our contests which is why I'd like to get them up and running again.
