Can the M3 DS Simply/R4 Revolution also run ROMs? I'd assume that's what it means by backups.

Would either of these come with everything I need?

The second link would come with everything you need minus the DS..

The R4 was really simple tho'.. Just throw the OS on, then colors.

Add rom files in a directory, start DS, and then browse to whatever application you wanna start.

With the latest upgrades in OS/Fwire you don't need to patch anything.

With the latest version of colors I haven't noticed any problems either.

I'd go with the R4.. but thats just because I'm 100% sure it works, and that theres no trouble with it.
You also need an additional microSD card for it...

:)

Oh and nice stuff!

I'm jealous... Planning on getting a DS, but I need to wait to get paid... The work here is awesome and inspiring. Can't wait to try it out. It must be amazing to have a portable digital sketchbook.

Does anybody use the DSTT for this? can't find the M3 or R4, but it seems DSTT is quite the same as the R4, sorry for being technical.

Yep, same here. Only I've not looked more throughly into where to grab one going on a few weeks now.

@Stahr: Did you manage to find out any info concerning the DSTT?

To address this question for anyone else wondering, the DSTT works fine with Colors; I picked one up for my brother since R4's have started to get either scarce or crazy expensive, and had no problems using it.

i finally bought a DS for real, to be honestly, only to run colors on it. i set up everything (what was a huge pain in the ass) i got it to work. unfortunately, i experience some strange file-corruption, but only in colors.... so far, i've got only managed to run version 1.05 on it, it seems that it's the only version which is stable. a pitty for the loss of pressure-sensitive brush size etc. but at least it does not destroy my paintings anymore.
so, i think i'll up some doodles soon :)

first day's outcome :)
the one in the lower mid i tried to trace my reflection on the touchscreen- it's almost impossible, because of the pressure-sensitive screenpad the reflection morphs all the time lol
notice that the upper right were inspired of sinix youtube-channel; i remembered it after i did the one in the upper middle.
also two live-drawings, my tele and the view from my window :)
