I call it FrogBot. It's kind of retro style really. Guess it'd be a sort of scout mech.

Didn't spend ages on this [as you can probably tell I let my left-handed chicken draw this] probably an hour or so.

pfft...

thats transformed from the scribble you showed me bud, I dont mean concept or idea but the overall 'finished' look, it looks like you've been rendering it for a few hours, real nice.

In fact everyone's is awesome, gonna have another good look at all of them then fix the poll so I can vote for everyone lol

__________________________________________________ ____________

EDIT:
Ok, bloody hard to vote but here goes:

DMonk: I love the 'washed' colour palette and really like the strong vertical stance youve given to your bot, it does help give that impression of speed and agility, for concept idea 7/10, for visual impact/render 7.5/10 so an overall score of 7.25.

Thujon: I like the use of alchemy to help generate the randomness and artistic flair to your beginning sketch, this flows into your design really well, I like the inclusion of the weapons and again that vertical stance helps reinforce that agility/speed feel, so for concept a solid 6.5 and for render again a solid 6.5, overall score of 6.5

CB: Your concepts/sketches always look amazing to me no matter what stage they are at, you have such a sweet rendering style and your imagination holds no bounds. I see the same qualities in DMonk's work too now. Again this vertical pose cements the briefs guidelines and its something I wish I'd explored now after seeing all yours, I like the heavily looking armoured shoulders and I could easily see this mech as a flying craft too.
Concept gets an 8 and render an 8.5 ( I adore that style) total score: 8.25

And lastly Sir Ian: Brilliant concept, thinking so far out of the box its a great blend of great concept and 'tongue in check' comedy, it reminds me heavily of the space and sci-fi programs I used to watch as a nipper, the colour scheme is great too, that mix of frog and TB2 (or was it 3 or 4??)
So my score for you is concept 9 and render 8 giving you a Mull score of 8.5

So my vote goes to Ian

Comments made are just my tastes and thoughts on your great work, I loved each one and all for various reasons, if I could have voted for each of you I would as anyone who took the time to produce something was a winner. As I proved its easy to fall back on old trusted designs but you guys proved that with some exploration the designs can take such wonderfully different avenues.

I may not be able to get online next week due to being back in Scotland on sea trials so if I dont I wish you all the best for the next challenge and I'll catch the entries when I get home.

Have fun

Awesome and comprehensive review from you North Man! Like what you did with the scoring style, maybe something we could do in future chalenges I reckon.

Haven't got around to voting yet but hoefully tonight I will have some time to do so.

It's been a great challenge this week guys - excellent take up. You rock!

Guys, so great to have that much feedback! I feel like its all Christmas again ;-)
IGB: Really nice idea with your walker, I am pissed off that I didnt come up with that idea... :-)

Your opinions are worth tons to me, thanks for any comments!!!

I voted for CB3... this is a walker that Id really like to see in action! Though I dont think that it would be that fast and agile as it should be...its design is really giving it to me...lol

Im looking forward to the next theme...

Thumbs up to you all!!!

Mull, thanks and g'luck in Scotland for the "trials". (also, I won't tell Kaber that you're actually planning to make a flight out to the Faroes in order to learn more about how to eradicate our evil forum-leprechaun from that mysterious old lady in the mountains; don't wanna get his hopes up and all, right? )

thuj, thanks a lot man; I'll get back with you on alchemy questions when something comes along, also I'm not 100% sure what you're referring to there with the rendering, but it's pretty standard stuff for the most part really.

as far as brushes go, my 3-workhorses for some time now have been a combo of the standard-rounds (hardedge/softedge), the oil pastel large (daarken's variant settings, but tweaked every now and then to fit my 'handedness' and stroking-habits) and the basic airbrush.

I also used a sketchpen type brush, and a couple of quick sweeps with a blender on this too; it's sad, but I really don't maintain a paper-sketchbook anymore, so much as just doodle nonsense on loose sheets of scrap, and those squiggly lines and whatnot are largely no different to that kind of warmup-doodling, where I'm either just going back over, and 'attempting' to solidify the immediate impression of an angle/edge/form, exploring for undiscovered lines, or just plain being lazy about finishes! ;D

Another good option for doing that is by lowering the opacity of certain layers as you continue to build up forms, but mainly if you can remind yourself at the start to keep those structural shapes underneath as more "basic" (simple boxes/spheres), you will be amazed at just how effortlesstly things develop from there, and how they can actually be made to look much more "complex" than they actually are in the end with a solid bit of practice. thanks again

IGB, most out of the box idea is getting a nod from me. I'm a tmnt fan, whether it's the gritty, or cartoon versions, and this immediately reminded me of something that could fit in with that, (quirky/vibrant color) even tho it's a frog-mech, and not a turtle-mech lol

also, I'm a left-handed chicken too, and I think that this other left-handed chicken of yours did a good job on this for an hour's worth of drawlin' and colorin', so much sooooo...that I'm thinkin it really deserves an extra helping of chicken-feed at din-din, but tell Aussiemum NOT to bring the barbed-chains with her again, because I'm promising beforehand that I won't steal from the others this time, even tho I alone, STILL have not been fed for months. The reasoning for this I have yet to be made aware of ...I mean really---
---starting to get a little worried now because I'm wasting away out here, and my throats gone raw from all of this endless begging I'm doing, but really the worst part is that my fingers, and toes are starting to look REALLY tasty and delicious to me...so yeah, a little help someone, please?...please? >.<;;;;;;;;;

LOL..... Im left handed to .....

Thanks for that insight CB! Im sure Ill try it out a bit... but tell me, are you refering to photohop or painter? I ask because an oil pastel brush in PS would be new to me... hmm I know that daarken doesnt use PH at all... so I guess you r talking about PS.... ;-)

Goshh I have to improve my rendering....

ANyway guys, really cool SOTW!

yep I'm sorry about that Thujon, I used photoshop in this instance, but the same brush use applies to working in painter/etc. If you travel into your brush options menu and select "reset brushes">"append"...that will open up your default ps brushes, where you can track down the 'oil pastel large' in it's original settings, where it's ripe for customization; or I guess daarken has his basic set available on his site now?

at any rate, it's pretty versatile from start to finish, similar to any of the chalk-type brushes available, and especially so for quickly blocking in big chunks of pixelmatter in order to forumulate any your ideas.

btw, I think EVERYONE'S A WINNA THIS WEEK, eh!? G'job every1
