Sotw - Whn? #2
Welcome to the CGPAD Speed of the Week - What Happens Next? #2.
OK, heres the part-story for this week:
He climbed to the top of a wrecked building, now little more than a huge pile of rubble, set himself down and pulled out his rifle. Adjusting the dial on its scope he looked back across the wasteland to see if he was still being persued.
The mid-day sun played across the barren landscape, the heat of the day making the horizon dance to transparent waves as the ground cooked. It was too bright to make out anything, other than the trees. The river that cut across his field of view shone like a mirror, throwing off the harsh light.
He panned west with the rifle sight and there, faintly visible in the distance, following the line of the water were three small dots on the landscape. So, he hadn't lost them yet.
He reached round and pulled the dirty map from his back pocket. The gunshot wound in his side re-opened and dribbled fresh blood. After setting his position, he hauled himself up and climbed down from the building.
He turned towards the ruined, seemingly deserted town behind him and started walking. Houses and shops all scarred and burnt out, some mostly fallen down. Rubble in the street. Shells of vehicles long since used, now nothing more than scrap metal. The buildings looked dark on the inside.
He carried on through the town, keeping to the edge of main street. The sun was behind him now, casting early afternoon shadows in front as he walked. He stopped in the shade of a nearby building to check his wound. It had started to clot again which was a good sign. At least he wasn't dying.
As he looked up he could see the shadow cast by the building he was leaning against. That and other shadows on top of it - moving shadows.
He wheeled around and stepped out backwards from the building, into the street with his rifle at the ready, squinting against the sunlight.
Aiming up at the building roofline he saw......

Blasphemy! Fallout 3 is one of the greats - you need to put time and love into that game. Only then will it open up to you and show you that THAT FILM is naff. Plain and simple. lol. Besides Fallout3 is alternative 50's style future branching, not some crappy take on the last bible on earth. pfft. Don't get me started Mr.

Re: Sotw - Whn? #2
oh crap, my skills are real rusty :( i chewed up all the time, full 4 hrs and i'm not happy with the result.. detail wise etc. tho i really like the angle, so i think i'll continue on this outside the sotw :)
so here it goes:
Mercs! He knew they followed him for a long time, but he didn't knew that they were so close…
He had no time to think; they instantly opened fire at him. In the last second he managed to jump behind a close wall.
He checked his ammo. He had packed enough rounds, as the entire mission was a deep raid- but there were just too many of them out there… He had to find another way out of this.....

Dust Scavengers slowly surrounding the last known living plant in the country. A lonely tree which grows in the most unlikeliest places amongst piles of death and destruction, the sacred sap buried deep within its roots is said to hold the secret to rekindling mother natures soul.
"How did they locate it so quickly, what do they want, have they found its secret?"
Moving slowly into the shadows to avoid being noticed, slowly, very slowly counts off each one of the dust scavengers making sure he has enough ammo for each one of them.............................................. .............
Solid 4 hours of PS work, photo plate used, technically not a speedy for me as anything over an hour is too long
This is a resized version, head over to my SB for a full size view if ya interested.

Thujon -as it happens i don't even own COD MW2! I was thinking all post-apocalyptic stuff. Nice building perspective in your image - wqouldn't want to be there when that bomb goes off!
Dermonkey - yours has a nice gritty action first person feel to it which is really different. Cool stuff!
Great entries this week

Re: Sotw - Whn? #2
Hey guys, sorry I couldn't get in this one but I've been doing some other practice stuff. In anycase. There were, in my mind, two really tough choices here. Mull, fantastic rendering and colors. I'd also love to see the step process on this. Over all though, DerMonkey got my vote. The perspective was fantastic. Really put me in the middle of the action. It was rough, gritty and just gave an epic kind of feel. Would have been nice to see your main character defined a bit more but great work there Monkey.
