Hi there Jan, I think the most solid ones are the wacom pen sketch and the genie.
It's good to see that you're testing out different stuff, but sometimes it looks like objects don't 'fit' into the background.
I think most of them would really turn out better if you where to be a bit more consistent with your choises of what to use, like perhaps paint everything in an image not using photographs or effects etc, that would make them much tighter in their visual appearance, the same goes the other way around, using a lot of custom brushes and photo textures.
Advice for practices that I can recommend is doing smaller color sketches with a default round brush with different settings. maybe doing some reading on color and light, look at photos and how light behave and how it colors the surroundings.
I'm not trying to be an mean guy here, I'm just giving suggestions and my honest opinions, that means you don't need to take the advice, just considering it ;)

cheers!

Thujon, that genie is pretty fierce looking, and I like the overall mood & composition you've established in the first piece there. Now, at least when it comes to the digi-stuff, if you can just keep pushing to make the differing elements in your works come across in a more cohesive-looking manner, you'll be all set.

Thujon, these are interesting looking creature-sketches, but they are pretty small to get a good look at. I see some initial layout problems in the 3rd-image perspective wise, but maybe you were just looking to get the idea down quickly. At any rate, good luck with your assignment!

Wink Re: Thujon's SB

Some more nasty creatures...
CB3: Your guess was right, I wanted to have it down quickly...it was a sketch for a Pic that "costruct" (a studio) wanted for a Halflife 2 MOD..I did go on with the pic as you se....but I rexcently abandoned the project due to lack of time and I wasnt pleased with it ....still I hope you like it....

EDIT: The creatures need to be 200x200 pixels...thats why they are so small...I tried to start of with a bigger res but realized that it is needless to work on a bigger scale though the details practically wont bee seen on 200x200.....

I like the creatures, the first from the last post is really cool! Unfortunatelly all of them are so small.
Keep working!

Sorry to hear the project didn't work out as planned, Thujon. As I mentioned before, these are pretty small thumbs, but really if you are able to get strong images going at this stage, it should still translate over pretty nicely for when you decide to enlarge them to start detailing towards a finished piece.

It looks like with many of these, you really had a clear vision of what you wanted and just went for it. I particularly like the rendering for the purple-bat, and also the one with the front on view. The goblin as well. Good stuff!

I like your schematic sketch more than the color-worked version here Thujon.
Also, I'm not sure I'd want to be anywhere near someone lugging around extra ammo for that in a firefight! lol
