Default Want to make it better....

Okay yes, I know this was done for the BA #1 contest, "The Great Escape" but I'd like some ideas on how to make it a whole helluva lot better.

Here are the details and the piece itself. Yes I know the cat looks cut off, I'll fix it.

Added some sand.

maybe use some harde brushes strokes for the fur,that way you wil create some depht to it

I think it needs to have more contrast and and better ambient light
Criag Mullins said that art lives in the big shapes right now the values of
all the image are to close to each other and that flattens the image,
I did a very quick and simple overpaint to show you my view on things
its not perfect by far, but maybe it will make you see the image
with fresh eyes, the idea is that if you can see the silhouette of the
character while viewing the image as small thumbnail then your values
are working, if the values in the background and foreground are too
close, the character will merge with its environment, and the sense
of dept will be lost
